Complaints Procedure

We take all complaints seriously and want to resolve your concerns quickly and fairly. This page explains how to raise a complaint and what to expect.

1. Our commitment

At Chatham Pharmacy, we are committed to providing the highest standard of care. If something goes wrong or you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, we want to know so we can put it right and learn from it.

We treat all complaints seriously, investigate them fairly and respond as quickly as possible. You will never be treated differently because you have raised a concern.

2. How to make a complaint

You can raise a complaint in any of the following ways:

  • In person: speak to the pharmacist on duty or ask for the Superintendent Pharmacist at 139 New Road, Chatham, ME4 4PT

3. What to include

To help us investigate your complaint effectively, please include:

  • Your full name and contact details
  • The date and time of the incident or service you are complaining about
  • A clear description of what happened and why you are dissatisfied
  • What outcome you are hoping for (if you have one in mind)
  • Any supporting information such as receipts, prescription details or names of staff involved

4. What happens next

Once we receive your complaint:

  1. Acknowledgement: we will acknowledge your complaint within three working days, confirming who is handling it
  2. Investigation: we will look into the matter thoroughly, speaking to staff involved and reviewing any relevant records
  3. Response: we will provide a full written response within 20 working days. If we need more time, we will let you know and explain why
  4. Resolution: our response will explain what we found, whether we think the complaint is upheld, and what actions we are taking to prevent it from happening again

5. If you are not satisfied

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate your complaint to the following organisations:

General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

The GPhC regulates pharmacies and pharmacists in Great Britain. You can raise concerns about professional standards or fitness to practise.

NHS England

For complaints about NHS services provided by the pharmacy, you can contact NHS England.

Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO)

If you remain dissatisfied after your complaint has been investigated by NHS England, you can ask the PHSO to review your case.

6. Confidentiality

All complaints are treated confidentially. Information relating to your complaint will only be shared with those who need to be involved in the investigation. We comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 when handling complaint data. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Feedback and compliments

We also welcome positive feedback. If a member of our team has provided excellent care, we would love to hear about it. You can leave a review on Google, tell us in person or email us at pharmacy.fe813@nhs.net. Compliments are shared with the team and help us understand what we are doing well.
